Backpacking with friends in Southern Colorado. 25 miles, 5500 vertical feet, 3 days, one storm, one panic. I only carried the DMC-LX3 (see previous sentence for why I didn’t carry 15lbs of Nikon gear). A full Gallery is Here.
Details: The Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad left Durango, CO and dropped us off at Elk Park. Ascending 3000 feet over 2 days on the Colorado Trail (Elk Creek) left us on the Continental Divide Trail. North towards Stony Pass, we sprinted down a random goat trail heading east to avoid a storm. Climbing back up to the CDT trail and down the cunningham drainage finished day 3. Friends picked us up at the Highland Mary Lakes Trail Head. A rough Google Earth Video of the trip is here.
